WEDNESDAY

004

Frozen. I could stop there, right? Penelope had every song memorized before it even came out on DVD. We have watched it three times since yesterday evening. We’ll watch it again before bed tonight.

I really enjoyed walking in on this ^ scene. Penelope had a nearly unraveled Elsa braid, and was fully concentrated on the movie as I made lunch.

005

Oh, Amelia

Sure, her smile is beautiful and charming, but this is one of the few smiles she has had in just about two days. Her top molars are coming in and they are a booger.

007

Penelope made a “ladder” out of magnets. She’s so creative.

003

Amelia had Penelope’s horse. Penelope took her horse back. Amelia cried. I gave Amelia Penelope’s car. Penelope wanted the car…yeesh

002

Penelope made her doll dance to the closing music of Frozen. She was so delicate and precise. :)

Someone (ahem, Mia) didn’t take an afternoon nap. So she got iPad time, threw books here and there, got to go outside on the deck, and chased a chicken.

The best part? Zack came home for lunch!!

Two more days until spring break! This, I believe, will be the first time we will not take a spring break trip in our nearly seven years of marriage. We also won’t be taking a trip this summer, which will be another first! If we decide to take a trip next Christmas, that too will be a first! Phew! I guess I should make it through Thursday first.

OCTOBER

IMG_8337

October is the BEST month, in my opinion. The leaves here started changing last month, but just in the first two days of October so many more colors have popped up in our yard. So we explored.

Now, if only someone would inform the gnats that summer has left the building!

_MG_8255

Our days (despite getting the house ready for a certain little lady’s third birthday party) have been calm.

They have been enjoyed.

_MG_8257

We have completed so many puzzles.

_MG_8259

We have watched good movies.

_MG_8285b

We’ve peered out windows to study noisy birds.

_MG_8292

We’ve been silly.

Babies have been pushed by big sisters.

I can only hope the rest of this month will be as wonderful. We’re going to wear this month out!!

Day Trip Date

DSC_7352a

Zack, the girls and I took a day trip up to St. Peters so that we could go on a date. His mom watched the ladies and we spent the day in Chesterfield with plans to see the newest Star Trek.

We decided to try out the five star theater experience – amazing!!! Seriously. Gigantic comfy recliners with heated seats, (nice) servers, high-quality restaurant style food, no getting up for refills, shmancy curtains surrounding the screen, the best surround sound, no loud jerks people yelling at talking through the movie… so it was s i l e n t! Plus a great movie in 3D.

I think we’ll be doing this once a year. We are movie people. Love ‘em! If you like them as much as we do, you might want to try it out. If you are in the St. Louis area, there is one in St. Charles and Chesterfield.

Continuing Spontaneity

DSC_1080

“Want to go for a walk?”

“Yes!”

Those seven words began the flow of our evening. It was in the fifties yesterday! (It’s snowing again today, oh Missouri…) We are a family who thoroughly enjoys  walks. Zack and I took them even before we had kids.

I love to see this girl happy.

We stopped by the video store to rent Penelope a movie. (Movies, 3 days for a dollar?? Yes, please!) She runs straight to the back where the kids movies are, then begins to slowly and carefully make her decision. Her first pick is usually a movie they only have on VHS or one she recognizes from our house, but she always ends up with a choice she is excited about. This time she chose a Tinkerbell movie, but ended up bringing home Lilo and Stitch.

The school gave Zack a coupon for a free slice of pie from Diana’s Diner in town, so we decided to stop in for supper. The thing is though, we forgot the coupon, comes with being spontaneous I guess :). We, as you can see, ate there anyway. It was tasty!

Amelia slept through supper…

Afterwards we headed home, just to leave again to pick up some (much needed) groceries.

We ended the night playing a new board game (picked up at Target Saturday) in our pajamas. Penelope has won all three times we have played.  Stinker.

It’s an ages three and up game, but she is pretty great at it and doesn’t get frustrated.

Well, I’m going to go play with my girls- happy Tuesday!

Spontaneity

DSC_0806

Zack turned 25 last Thursday, and well… there is nothing to do where we live, so we decided to wait until the end of the month to celebrate when we will be in St. Louis. However, we are a family that enjoys going and experiencing things as oppose to sitting around in our free time. So, Friday night we decided we’d like to spend Saturday in Springfield and take Miss Penelope to see her first theater movie! We would’ve gone somewhere closer, but the closest theaters showing children’s movies were 2 hours in either direction.

We started our day at the mall to try and find the girls some dresses for Dee Dee and Pawpaw’s 60th anniversary. (We later found them at Target, the only store tall thin girls are welcome!)

Penelope has a thing for mannequins.  Always has. Her face lights up, she grins from ear to ear (unconsciously it seems), and slowly makes her way towards them. She admires their shoes, holds their hands, and smiles up at them so sweetly, and if a chance arises, she unzips their jackets.

CHEESE!!!

DSC_0802

We were going to eat lunch at the food court (any chance to eat Chick-fil-a, right?), but our lack of hunger was stronger than our desire for that tasty tasty chicken. So, Frozen yogurt it was! Zack took Penelope to pick out exactly what would be a-top said yogurt. Thankfully, he only gave her fruit choices. Gummies and such were no where to be found when they returned. Amelia did, however, desire a hearty lunch, as you can see above. Gotta keep those rolls in tip top squishy shape!

DSC_0828DSC_0830

See what I mean about the mannequins?

DSC_0832DSC_0841

We still had some time to kill before the movie started, so we stopped by one of Zack’s favorite stores, Dynamic Earth, an outdoor / / health food store. Penelope loved every bit of it! Amelia slept through every bit of it…

I think Zack and I were a bit more excited for Penelope to see her first theater movie. I always thought she would be four or five but she loves movies, is so stinkin’ well behaved, and well that was enough for us!

wreckitralphdelted122019291201DSC_0848DSC_0850

It. was. adorable! She would say “More?” after every preview. :) Zack and I just kept grinning at each other throughout the whole thing (no doubt smiling about how wonderful and adorable our girls are). Amelia was just as good! She was awake through most of it, mesmerized through most of what she saw, and peacefully pleasant through the whole movie. I love our girls. Needless to say, Penelope will probably going to see another one over spring break, but we might find a babysitter for Miss A, just in case.

After the movie we went on over to Target, where the perfect dresses were found. Oh so pretty!

Then we were finally hungry for some actual food. I got to chose, so Chipotle’ it was! My favorite.

DSC_0851DSC_0852DSC_0853DSC_0858DSC_0854DSC_0857

Penelope scarfed down her bean rice and cheese! So glad she loves food! Not sure how I would handle a picky kid.

Happy 25 Zack! We love you! Thanks for taking your ladies out to celebrate!
