THE GIRLS WERE HERE / 05
If you give a baby a mug of milk…she’ll fill it with toast.
If you give a baby a bag of animals…
Okay, I’ll stop.
Penelope is really getting into an imagination phase. Amelia is in a grab - dump – run – away – and – never – look – back phase.
The last two photos were from an evening we spent at the church while Zack began painting a mural. The last photo is actually the only mess made by Penelope. She’s so tidy!

One of Penelope’s chores is to (occasionally) hand wash the girl’s dishes. I love finding things she has left behind. I used to keep little toys, like this dinosaur, up on our tiny windowsill so I could put them away later. I believe it is where she thinks they belong. I can’t have too many little reminders of them in my life!
This was either Amelia or Zack. Penelope and I couldn’t figure it out, but since my camera was in this pile, I’m going to say this was Amelia’s doing. 20 or so stuffed animals, three books, two sippy cups, and one camera. I guess she wanted company and activities for her nap…
A horse with style. This horse often wears scarves and the girls hats, but this was a new one. I think it suits him.
Poor Noah fell out of the bed and he can’t get up.
Discarded sunnies. A clean table doesn’t stay clean for long. When the girls move out (you know, in their forties) I’m going to have to spread their stuff around the house now and then. It’s like a hug just when you need some love, but didn’t expect to receive it.
This has Amelia written all over it. She probably got ready to go somewhere, realized we weren’t leaving and sat down for a good read.
Sooooo, Amelia found a Sharpie. Then she found my desk made of bare wood and went to town.
Barbie was invited to lunch and stayed for supper. :)
I love these ladies so stinkin’ much!

Penelope has been good at putting her dirty dishes in the sink. Definitely shortens the time it takes me to round up the cups in the house! Sometimes, toys end up in the sink, letting me know she wants to wash the dishes herself / give toys a bath. I am so glad she enjoys helping others!
Rocks at the table. Rocks collections piled everywhere, actually.
Abandoned, melted slushy at the table while they slept.
^ Can you guess who made this mess?
Amelia has really been into puzzles lately. Not putting them together, just looking at them, but we’ll get there!

^ Amelia has begun feeding baby dolls!! ^
Messes are now taking place in every room of the house now that Amelia is very mobile. She enjoys brushing her teeth, which means she leaves her toothbrush[es] all over the place. She has a few, simply because we often have trouble locating one, or we find it in the toilet.
Signs that Penelope was somewhere is usually neatly put away bath gear or a doll nicely placed sweetly against a comfy pillow. Neatness comes naturally to her. She even assigned the orange luffa to herself, and the pink to Amelia, and she makes sure they each have the correct one before I bring out the soap. :)
I wonder what the messes will be once they out grow toys…clothes? Homework? Well, those won’t be as cute. Hopefully I will still be documenting the mess at that time. It will be fun to see how they, and their interests, have changed!

THE GIRLS WERE HERE / 01
I often find little things around the house, left by the girls, that make me smile and chuckle under my breath. I thought nothing more of these little things until I stumbled upon this blog. I think I will be doing a series of posts displaying these things. If for nothing more than to find joy in the little things, and the happy among the mess.
